The 4th International Conference on Integrated Coastal Management & Marine Biotechnology (ICMMBT) focuses on promoting creative solutions and practical approaches to coastal and ocean management. The theme is “Good Practices and Innovations Towards Blue Economy” and the goal is to support sustainable blue economy and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 4th ICMMBT is jointly organized by the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (CCMRS) IPB University, the GEF/UNDP/PEMSEA Arafura and Timor Seas Ecosystem Action Phase 2 (ATSEA-2) Project and Archipelagic & Island States (AIS) Forum. The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) also supports the ICMMBT4. Travel grants for the DAAD Alumni from Indonesia and other ASEAN countries (limited number) are available. The conference will be participated by international speakers, researchers, students as well as representatives from national and local governments, NGOs, regional and international organizations.
The ocean economy is important for development and it’s crucial to have responsible and sustainable approaches for a sustainable blue economy. The CCMRS IPB University, ATSEA-2, and AIS Forum aim to share best practices in integrated coastal management, sustainable fisheries, biodiversity conservation, pollution management, and innovative ocean technologies through the 4th ICMMBT. This event comes at an important time as the world is at the mid-point of implementing the 2030 Agenda.
Based on the success of the previous International Conferences on Integrated Coastal Management & Marine Biotechnology (I-III) and the International World Seafood Congress held in Malaysia in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021 respectively, this conference is expected to attract students, researchers, and practitioners from both national and international levels, with the inclusion of oral presentations from various countries. In 2016, representatives from 11 countries attended, 40 articles were published in IOP Publisher in 2018, and 32 articles were published in the WSC in 2019. At the 3rd ICMMBT in 2021, 54 articles were published, 16 of which were affiliated with IPB University.
This international conference will significantly benefit society, researchers, practitioners, lecturers, students, and various stakeholders, as well as CCMRS IPB University, the ATSEA-2 Project and AIS Forum.
